Summer 2022 Certificate Programs
Certificate in Digital Entrepreneurship and Fashion Studies

This four-course summer program draws upon the disciplines of Art History, Business, Communication, and Studio Art to focus on content generation and reflection in the field of fashion. It can be completed in two summer sessions (June and July).

This program is open to visiting and Franklin degree-seeking students. Students must successfully complete the four courses below to be awarded the Certificate.

Summer session 1

  • BUS 298.1 Digital Entrepreneurship & Fashion Studies
  • STA 230 The Fashion of Form: Concept to Construction

Summer session II

  • BUS 298.2 Digital Storytelling & Content Creation
  • COM 295 Media Consumption, Fashion, and Identity

(optional) Summer Interim session

In order to obtain the Certificate, students can substitute for STA 230 or COM 295 the Summer 2022 travel course:

  • AHT 285T Technology in Art, Visual Communication, and Fashion

If a student has already completed STA 230 or COM 295 or AHT 285 in a previous term, these courses can be put toward the Summer 2022 Certificate and the student does not need to repeat the courses in the summer.

Certificate in Politics of Europe and the Middle East

This four-course summer program introduces students to the fields of political science and international relations, with focus on the politics in the two closely linked regions of Europe and the Middle East. It can be completed in two summer sessions.

This program is open to visiting and Franklin degree-seeking students. Students must successfully complete the four courses below to be awarded the Certificate. Franklin degree-seeking students pursuing a major or a minor in political science or international relations are not eligible for the Certificate.

Summer session 1

  • POL 100 Introduction to Political Science
  • POL 290 Government and Politics of the Middle East

Summer session II

  • POL 101 Introduction to International Relations
  • POL 297 European Union Issues and Policies

If a student has already completed POL 100 or POL 101, or the equivalent at another institution in a previous semester, one of these courses can be put toward the Summer 2022 Certificate and the student does not need to repeat the course in the summer. POL 290 and POL 297 must be taken in their summer 2022 version to be put toward completion of the certificate.
